Kids Hope Alliance and the Jacksonville Public Education Fund invite everyone to participate in the kick off of a community-wide literacy initiative aimed at improving third grade reading proficiency and literacy for local youth. This initiative is designated as "Reading Celebration Week" and takes place from March 21st - 25th.
As part of this exciting week, the Library is hosting three free events that you and your family are invited to! Keep reading to learn how you can join in on the fun!
Women’s History Month is a great opportunity to celebrate the lives and achievements of trailblazing women and girls throughout history, in the present day and all over the world. It can also be a time to reflect on both the progress made and the battles left to fight. What “glass ceilings” are still left to shatter? Who is being represented and whose stories still need to be told? Get inspired by women from all walks of life with the diverse collections available at your libraries.
The PLAYERS Championship is back! One of the most prestigious events in golf, the PLAYERS offers the highest prize fund of any tournament ($20 million) and features 144 of the top golfers. It’s no wonder so many people get excited when the event returns every year to the Jacksonville area! Luckily, your Library has a great selection of books about golf including biographies, children’s books, and more!
Jacksonville Public Library, NEFLIN and Sun-Ray Cinema partner together to offer a free special screening of “The Public” during Jacksonville Public Library’s National Library Week campaign. This event takes place on Sunday, April 3 and is free and open to all. Join us to kick off National Library Week! and register here for free tickets!
