Jacksonville Public Library is committed to serving the public by providing materials to meet our customers’ needs. The mission of The Library is to enrich lives, build community, and foster success by bringing people, information, and ideas together. The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service offers customers access to collections beyond what is held in Jacksonville, allowing customers to request items to be sent to their local library.
Privileges:
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services are available to anyone holding a Jacksonville Public Library General Membership or Non-Resident Subscriber card in good standing.
Up to ten (10) Interlibrary Loan (ILL) requests may be pending and/or checked out at one time, in total.
Requested material will be delivered to the Main Library or the branch library of the customer’s choice and can be returned to any library location. Please do not return items in a book drop.

Material for In-Library Use
The lending library can dictate the conditions under which it will lend materials. Some of the materials may be designated by the lending library as restricted. This means that this material must be used in the library and cannot leave the building. The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Staff will notify the customer that the material is available but restricted to in-library use only.
Photocopies
Customers may order photocopies of certain materials not available through Interlibrary Loan (ILL), such as magazine articles and reference materials up to 7 pages per request. Jacksonville Public library borrows solely from non-fee charging libraries on behalf of its customers.
Loan Period
- The length of the loan is set by the lending library, not Jacksonville Public Library, and will vary accordingly. The due date is noted on each item. If the item can be checked out and is not picked up by the due date listed on the sticker, or within 7 days of notification, it will be returned to the lending library.
- If the item is not picked up within 7 days of notification (unless a shorter time is indicated by the lending library) it will be returned to the lending library. Customers agree to return material by the due date set by the lending library.
- If the lending library allows, customers may request a maximum of one renewal. Customers can call 255-BOOK (2665) to request a renewal three business days (Monday-Saturday) before the due date stated on the lending label. Customers can also request renewals through their account in the customer interface (ILLiad). Overdue Interlibrary Loan (ILL) materials cannot be renewed.
Recall of Material
The lending library may exercise the option to recall material needed by its customers. If the material is recalled before the due date, the customer must, upon notification, return the material immediately.
Late charges
Any item received via Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service is subject to the fines/fees imposed by lending library on loaned items.
Lost or Damaged items
The customer is responsible for any damage to and/or loss of the material that occurs after they have picked up the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) requested material.
We look forward to serving you through our Interlibrary Loan Department. Please call 255-2665 with any questions.
