You have access to the best middle-grades and young adult books and an extensive collection of comics, graphic novels and manga. If you don't see what you need on the shelf, just ask! Another library probably has it and we can send it to your preferred location! If there's anything we don't have, we might be able to loan it from another library system or you can suggest we purchase it.
For the latest additions to the Teen Nonfiction collection, check out books from this list in the catalog. You can also ask a librarian for recommendations or use Novelist K-8 to find read-alikes for your favorite authors or books, search by mood or genre, or browse their curated book lists.
Upgrade and Unlock
All KIPP Jax and Duval County Public School students already have access to Jacksonville Public Library's books and online resources!
Students can use their S-number to:
- Check out up to three books or audiobooks at a time
- Use online databases for homework help and school projects

Some library locations have dedicated computers for teens or even Teen Rooms, great for hanging out after school, meeting up with friends to study, and playing games. For a quieter space, reserve a study room. Find your library branch under “Locations and Hours” to see available rooms.

Attend Programs
We also have Teen Labs (for homeschoolers, ages 12-17) for those curious about a career in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Math. Each week, you'll take a deep dive on a fun topic, talk about great books, and get hands-on with a craft or other activity.
Or join us at Teen Advisory Board, where you vote for, plan, and make things happen at your Library! There's a new theme every two weeks - many of which are decided on by you! If you need Bright Futures Scholarship hours, you can volunteer by helping out at TAB or other teen programs. If your library doesn't have a TAB, you can help out in other ways, too!
