Borrow ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines to read on your phone or tablet using the Libby app. You can have 10 borrowed titles at a time and have 10 holds at a time with no monthly limits. It's free and easy to get started. You can even send and read your borrowed ebooks to your Kindle reader! Libby was inspired by library and customer feedback and designed to get people reading as quickly as possible.
#Looking for Kids and Teens content?
From the Libby app, young readers can set their Preferences to only see Juvenile or Young Adult content. You can also visit the "Explore" tab and navigate to the Kids or Teens Guides to browse themed booklists and collections curated by librarians here at Jacksonville Public Library.
#A Better Mobile Experience
OverDrive has announced that they will sunset the legacy OverDrive app in favor of the newer Libby app:
"We’re excited to take the next step with Libby and make it the primary way to enjoy your digital library. To achieve this goal, we are winding down the legacy OverDrive app. As a first step, we will remove the OverDrive app from the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Microsoft Store on February 23, 2022."
If you already have the Overdrive app installed, you will still be able to use it but the support for it will diminish. You can switch to the Libby app at any time without losing your current checkouts or holds. Libby has the same great titles, plus new features you'll love. For more information, read our blog.
Note: By the end of 2022, the plan is to have most OverDrive app users migrated to Libby. If you are currently using the legacy OverDrive app and need help making the switch, visit https://help.overdrive.com.
Did you know? You can use Libby in your web browser! You can also continue using https://jpl.overdrive.com.
