The Jacksonville Public Library provides bulletin board space in some of its facilities for posting notices by the general public as a community service, in the interest of providing customers with useful information from many sources.
Anyone who wishes to post a notice must obtain the prior approval of the unit manager or Person-in-Charge. The decision to accept a notice is the prerogative of the manager of the facility, based on space availability.
Display of a notice does not constitute Library endorsement of its contents.
Display of notices is subject to space limitations as determined by the Library. Only the bulletin board set aside for postings may be used for this purpose. Notices posted anywhere else in the libraries or on library grounds without permission may be discarded.
Priority for use of bulletin board space will be given to notices from Library support groups and the City of Jacksonville. Other organizations, publishers, institutions, clubs, companies and individuals are eligible for space on a first come, first served basis.
It is the responsibility of all individuals or groups to deliver their notices to various Library facilities. The Library will not accept responsibility for delivering or distributing notices to various library locations, except notices of Library support groups and the City of Jacksonville.
Notices from or pertaining to geographic areas outside the Library’s immediate service area may be denied use of bulletin board space.
Notices larger than 9” x 12” may be denied use of the bulletin board space.
The Library is solely responsible for the acceptance and placement of notices and the aesthetic appearance of the bulletin board. Individuals may not rearrange notices on the public bulletin board or remove any but their own notices.
The Library reserves the right to dispose of notices that are no longer current or have been on the bulletin board for more than two weeks.
Complaints about enforcement of this policy or notices on the bulletin board must be made in writing and delivered to the Person-in-Charge at the library where the material is available. The complaint will be immediately forwarded to the Library Administration for review.
