Teen Think Tank: National Puzzle Day

Teen Think Tank
Do you love the challenge of solving a good puzzle? I do! Did you know they're not just fun, but good for us, too? Celebrated on the 29th of January every year, the National Puzzle Day is to remind ourselves how puzzles can keep our brains working smart. Puzzles have been quite popular among all age groups across the world and they come in different forms and kinds. There are Sudoku puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, and many more different types of puzzles in the world. It doesn't matter how old you are or which kind of puzzle you choose to work on, they help in stimulating your brain cells and making them active! And when the puzzles require you to work with others, you will develop and hone your social interactive skills as well.

Teen Think Tank: Happy Birthday, Ben Franklin!

Teen Think Tank

Did you know that Ben Franklin actually had two birthdays?! How is that even possible? Well, Franklin was born in Boston on January 6, 1706. But in 1752, Great Britain switched from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar and skipped 11 days. So Franklin’s birthday became January 17. In 1773 he wrote to his wife, Deborah Franklin, “I feel still some Regard for this Sixth of January, as my old nominal Birth-day.”

Teen Think Tank: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Teen Think Tank

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy is alive and well - we still gather to march and protest for social justice and equality! Dr. King was a champion for all people. He stressed the importance of rising above fear and that with courage and determination, change was possible. This week we'll celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday and the contributions he made to advancing the Civil Rights Movement.

Teen Think Tank (6th - 12th Grade): National Hobby Month

Teen Think Tank

January is National Hobby Month, the perfect time of year to pick up a new hobby, or get back into an old one that you haven’t thought about in a while! One of the great things about having a hobby is that it can take your mind off the pressure of school or other daily stresses. Sit down and think about what you really love to do. What are you passionate about in life? What sparks your interest the most? What are you curious about? What are your goals?
