Teen Think Tank (6th - 12th Grade): Volunteering
If you are thinking about going to college, you'll need to start volunteering. The selection process for most colleges and universities has become so competitive, that despite your class rank or grade point average, you'll still need some extra 'oompf' that'll set you apart from all the other applicants. Volunteering gives you a chance to find out what you're passionate about; not only will you gain work experience, you just might make a positive impact in someone's life and your community! It's definitely a WIN-WIN Situation! Join us this week as we talk more about VOLUNTEERING!
Teen Think Tank (6th - 12th Grade): Read with Pride
We strive every day to make the world a better place. A world where everyone is respected and most importantly EQUAL. June is LGBTQ+ PRIDE Month and we are celebrating with Rainbow Reads! This week, we invite you to read a rainbow of stories and explore other rainbow activities to celebrate!
Teen Think Tank (6th - 12th Grade): Jewish American Heritage Month
Sometimes it's hard to imagine that people are still treated negatively because of the way they look or speak or even what religion they practice. May is Jewish American Month and we will take time to honor the contributions that Jewish Americans have made, past and present, to this great Nation. This Jewish American Heritage Month takes its theme from the ancient sage Rabbi Hillel’s most well-known saying–“If I am only for myself, what am I? If not now—when?” Let's work towards a better tomorrow where we can celebrate our differences and find ways to understand different points of views without hatred or violence.
Teen Think Tank (6th - 12th Grade): Summer Plans
Thank goodness that we are finally moving in the right direction with the Pandemic. While we aren't completely out of the woods, we can now head outdoors and take in the great Florida weather! One of my favorite things to do, is to grab an old blanket, spread it out under a tree and READ! Not only does being outdoors reduce stress and anxiety, it gives you doses of Vitamin D—a much needed vitamin to support a healthy immune system! Armed with these excuses, I mean facts, you can totally get out of doing housework and chores (it's worth a shot)! We'll even help you out with a few suggestions sure to keep you out of the house all Summer long. . .reading of course!
Teen Think Tank (6th - 12th Grade): AAPI Heritage Month
This month we celebrate Asian and Pacific Islander Americans for their contributions, past and present, to America's cultural richness and diversity. This year is particularly important as we've seen a rise in attacks against our friends, family, and loved ones. We encourage people of all races to stand in solidarity against the hatred and violence against the AAPI community. We are stronger together #StopAsianHate
