What are Traveling Tales?
Jacksonville Public Library’s unique collection of thematic storytime programs that you can take home. With these resources, parents, caregivers and educators can intentionally support and encourage reading readiness and language skills for children ages two through five. The school age Traveling Tales are specifically designed to capture natural curiosity and support the rapidly growing literacy needs of this age group.
Each thematic literacy kit contains:
- Carefully selected children’s books
- Puppet or other interactive manipulative
- A complete flannel board story or rhyme
- CD and DVD
- A users guide including art projects, games, songs and additional resources

Materials for each theme are contained in a sturdy bag and can be checked out with your library card. You can reserve a bag from the library’s website and pick it up at your branch when it becomes available.
