Learn more at our next Memory Lab Open House on Wednesday, May 1, from 6-8:30 p.m. (during Art Walk). You can also stop by any time the Main Library is open for a demo! The Memory Lab is located on the fourth floor of the Main Library in Special Collections (next to the Ansbacher Map Room).

Jacksonville Public Library offers a FREE service that delivers library materials to Duval County residents who cannot come to the library due to temporary or permanent disability or illness. Available materials include regular print books, large print books, audiobooks on CD, magazines, music CDs and DVDs.

Lit Chat Interview with James Patterson, Monday, April 8 at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Patterson will be appearing live at the Main Library’s Hicks Auditorium. As space inside the auditorium is limited, the interview will also be livestreamed online via Zoom. Books are available for pre-order from San Marco Books and More for pick-up at the event. A limited number will also be available to purchase on-site.

Mayor Deegan's River City Readers Citywide Literacy Challenge

River City Readers. Read 20 minutes per day. Join the Challenge.

Mayor Deegan’s River City Readers is a citywide literacy challenge for students of all ages. Challenge participants are asked to read 20 minutes a day and to log their reading in Beanstack, a popular reading challenge app. Readers are rewarded with digital badges for logging multiple days in a row and for completing other reading-related activities. At the end of the year, the city’s top young readers are given prizes!

Mellon Foundation Awards Historic Grant of $1 Million to Jacksonville Public Library

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., January 10, 2024 – The Mellon Foundation granted Jacksonville Public Library $1 million through the Library Foundation of Jacksonville to expand Memory Lab services and its African American History Collection, it was announced Thursday by Mayor Donna Deegan, marking the largest private grant in the histories of the Library and Library Foundation.

Celebrate great books, bestselling authors, and (of course) READING with us and hundreds of your fellow book fans on Saturday, September 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Main Library in downtown Jacksonville. The event includes Lit Chat Interviews and Talks with three #1 New York Times bestselling authors, dozens of local authors, literacy advocates, multiple children's performers, scavenger hunts, and other fun reading-related activities for all ages.
