#READ: One Springy, Singy Day by Renée Kurilla

One Springy, Singy Day Book Cover

Use your library card or apply for an ecard here to access our digital library!

A joyful ode to toddlerdom that follows a group of little ones through one buzzy, busy day. One Springy, Singy Day is a vibrant, joyful story that follows a diverse cast of young children as they play throughout their day. Inspired by author-illustrator Renée's own "busy bee" two-year-old, this love note from parent to child illustrates the wondrous and boisterous adventure of raising a springy, singy, squeezy toddler.

Increase pre-literacy skills as you read together:

  • This book has alliteration, such as "buzzy, busy bee" and "soapy, scrubby." See if your child can identify the beginning sounds of these words and look for more in the book!
  • Together, sound out some of the words that rhyme, such as "truck" and "muck." Explain how the author added "-y" to the end of some words, such as "go-ey" and "hush-y," to make them rhyme.
  • Act out the story together as you read it! Stretch, pretend to blow bubbles, conduct a tune, and more.

#SING: Let's Go Out Today

(Tune: Farmer in the Dell)

Let’s go out today, let’s go out today,

The sun is shining in the sky so let’s go out today.

Let’s go out today, let’s go out today,

I have my hat and sunscreen on so let’s go out today.

Let’s go out today, let’s go out today,

The sun is shining in the sky so let’s go out today.

Let’s stay in today, let’s stay in today,

The rain is falling from the sky so let’s stay in today.

Let’s stay in today, let’s stay in today,

I have my book and blankets too so let’s stay in today.

Let’s stay in today, let’s stay in today,

The rain is falling from the sky so let’s stay in today.
