Junior Scholars (Grades K-5): Food Wars!

This week's theme is one you probably haven't spent much time thinking about: Food Wars! If you put two foods in a matchup, who would "win?" Peanut butter or jelly? Bacon or eggs? Bread or butter? In our programs, we'll read stories that center around food matchups,  do some hands-on experiments, make some creative projects, and play some games. Be sure to pick your favorite food and see if they come out on top!

#EXPLORE: Pancakes vs. French Toast

Photo of pancakes vs. French toast

A popular book series by Josh Funk puts everyday foods in contests in the fridge. One is Lady Pancake & Sir French Toast (which is featured this week in Jr. Scientists for ages 5-8, please come join us!).

For a fun weekend breakfast challenge, help a grownup make your favorite recipes for pancakes and French toast, and see which one comes out the winner! Or...will it be...waffles? Hmmm...

If you need some inspiration, check out My First Cookbook by America's Test Kitchen; it has simple, kid-friendly recipes for both pancakes and French toast.
