Jax Stacks Staff Picks with a thumbs up emoji

Introducing: Genre Mode

We're more than half way through the 2026 Jax Stacks Reading Challenge. Are you on track to complete by December 31? Do you need some help with your TBR? Or are you maybe looking for an even bigger challenge? Over the years, a handful of readers have completed 12 (or more) categories by reading only science fiction novels or all romance books.

With that in mind... Our staff have put together some great book recommendations, in a few popular genres, that will help you get past the mid-way point and closer to the finish line. If you tend to stick to one or two popular genres, this might be right up your alley!  Now, you might be thinking, "This sounds more like easy mode." But it could get more difficult than you think! Choose a genre to find out!

New to Jax Stacks?

Jax Stacks is Jacksonville Public Library's year-round reading challenge for adults! To officially complete the challenge (and win), we just ask that you read at least 12 books from 12 of the 16 challenge categories. The challenge runs January 1 - December 31, 2026.
