April is a big month for readers! Not only are April showers are the perfect excuse to cancel all your plans, stay in and read a great book, but it's also National Poetry Month! Plus, there's World Book Day on April 23! We're also partial to National Library Week (April 23 - 29). This year, the theme is "There's More to the Story" and libraries are full of them (and a lot of other very cool things).

Have you been saying to yourself, "Irish I knew what book to read next..."? Well, you're in luck! Jacksonville Public Library has 15 book clubs, with meetings all across Jacksonville! It's true! No need to pinch yourself (unless you're not wearing green on March 17).

Whether you're looking for Romance... or a little Mystery, the library can help you find your perfect literary match!  Join us and other book lovers at one of our 15 Book Clubs this February and talk Thrillers, Memoirs, Tartan Noir, and so much more!

Continue your summer reading at the library with one of our 12 great book clubs this month! We’d like to give a special welcome to our newest book club (which starts July 30), Excalibris, a speculative fiction book club at the Regency Library.

Spring is on the horizon and it’s a great time to try a new book club on for size! We have 10 book clubs meeting in March at the library or virtually. If you’re interested in humorous science fiction adventure, gods behaving badly, serial killers, poetic memoirs, and everything in between, we have a club for you.

October’s book club reads bring you some old favorite authors as well as new and upcoming authors. Stephen King and Agatha Christie headline at Beaches and Highlands branches. West branch reads The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi, a debut novelist at 62 and Mandarin delves into Haben’s Story about the first Deafblind graduate of Harvard Law School, and her amazing journey from isolation to the world stage.

This fall the Library is offering several monthly book clubs, both in-branch and virtual and there are tons of genres to choose from! Some books that are featured this month are 1984 by George Orwell, The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell, Every Vow You Break by Peter Swanson, Squeeze Me by Carl Hiaasen, The Less People Know About Us by Axton Betz-Hamilton and Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano. Be sure to check out our newest book club, Nuts About Reading at the West Branch! 

Do you love the look, touch, and smell of a leather bound classic? Does the thought of browsing the stacks at your local library thrill and delight you? Well, then… you might just be a bibliophile! Book Lovers Day is all about YOU and those books you just can't seem to get enough of! So, let's celebrate with some booklists, book clubs, and a few other fun things the Library offers you book lovers out there.

The Library is offering several monthly book clubs around the county and there is a little bit of everything in the month of August! We have investigative fiction, romance, love stories, and of course, true crime. Whether you are looking to connect with other readers and make new friends or if you are just wanting to establish a regular reading habit, join our book clubs and you are off to a great start!
