Bringing the library to the heart of Jacksonville is what we do best! Whether it’s through literacy programs, lifelong learning initiatives, or local partnerships, we’re dedicated to supporting the Duval County community wherever you are. Our Library Outreach efforts focus on free community events that celebrate the joy of reading and help neighbors connect. Preferred Lead Time: 8-12 Weeks

Bring the Library directly to your school, neighborhood, community event, or organization with the Jacksonville Public Library River City Readers Bookmobile. The bookmobile delivers books, library cards, literacy resources, and library staff directly to the community, creating access to reading and learning wherever people gather. Perfect for schools, festivals, apartment communities, afterschool programs, senior centers, and community celebrations. Note that the vehicle offers two services: Book giveaways for children to start their own home libraries, and book borrowing of Library material for any age and to be returned at any Library location.

Bring an interactive library experience to your event with a customized program or activity led by library staff. We can mobilize the library to create engaging educational and recreational experiences for children, teens, adults, and families. Programs may include storytimes, drop-everything-and-read sessions, game days, STEM activities, DIY workshops, literacy activities, crafting, or themed library programming tailored to your audience and event goals. Great for schools, camps, community events, businesses, nonprofits, and neighborhood gatherings.

Invite a library representative to share information about the many free resources and services available through Jacksonville Public Library. These presentations can introduce audiences to library cards, digital resources, eBooks and audiobooks, job and career tools, research databases, technology classes, meeting spaces, youth and family programming, and more. Ideal for schools, workforce programs, neighborhood associations, senior groups, social service organizations, and community outreach events.

Preferred Lead Time: 4-6 Weeks

Interested in starting a book club for your workplace, community organization, friend group, or neighborhood? Book a librarian to help launch your club with expert guidance and library support. We provide book recommendations, discussion tips, library card sign-up opportunities, and advice on creating a successful and engaging reading group. Whether you’re building a community book club, employee wellness activity, or social reading group, we can help you get started with confidence.

Preferred Lead Time: 4-6 Weeks

Create a temporary library experience at your event with a mobile Pop-Up Library from Jacksonville Public Library. A Pop-Up Library brings books, library card registration, and select library services directly into the community without the use of the bookmobile vehicle. Attendees can browse and check out materials, learn about free library resources, sign up for library cards, and connect with library staff in an accessible and welcoming environment. Pop-Up Libraries are ideal for community festivals, school events, resource fairs, apartment communities, farmers markets, nonprofit events, and neighborhood gatherings.

The River City Readers Bookmobile is 44 feet long, 12 feet wide, and weighs 19.5 tons. Is their adequate space on gravel, pavement or another hard surface (not grass) to park the vehicle at your event?
For frame of reference, the vehicle occupies 8-10 parking spaces.
Our librarians need to be able to drive the bookmobile forward into its parking spot and drive forward to leave it at the end of the event. Can your event accommodate?
For example: Access to a bus or car loop wide enough for the vehicle works. No requirement for the vehicle to park in reverse.
