READ: Music is in Everything by Ziggy Marley
Use your library card or apply for an ecard here to access our digital library!
A picture book based on Ziggy Marley's popular song celebrating music's many forms, from the sounds of ocean waves to laughter in the family kitchen.
Increase pre-literacy skills as you read together:
- Emphasize the rhythm of the story by tapping your foot or encouraging your little one to rock from side to side during the story.
- Repeat rhyming words like "sing" and "everything" or "sound" and "around" and ask your little one to say them with you.
- Point to different items on the page and ask your little learner "What's that?" Talk about the items they identify. For example, ask about items' shape, color, or size.
SING: Let's Get the Rhythm
EXPLORE: Music is in Everything
Ways to Explore
- Tell your little learner that you are going for a walk on the beach, to the park, or down the block. Encourage them to listen for different sounds such as ocean waves, birds singing, rustling leaves, or car horns honking.
- Ask your little one if they can make the same sounds. Suggest ways to duplicate the sounds such as humming, clapping, or sliding their hands against each other.
