#READ: How Do You Dance? by Thyra Heder

There are so many ways to dance! You can jiggle or wiggle or stomp. You can bop or bounce or go completely nuts. You can dance at the market or the bus stop, with your fingers or your face. You can dance because you're happy or even because you're sad. But, what's the best way to dance? Exactly how you want to!
Increase pre-literacy skills as you read together:
- Talk with your little one about whether the character wearing the green shirt likes to dance.
- Pause periodically and ask your little one if, how, when, and where they like to dance.
- Point out a few moves from the book like The Flap, The Scribble, or The Scoot and try them with your little one.

Materials:
- Two sheets of paper
- A pen, paper, or marker
Instructions:
- Fold each sheet of paper to form quarter sections.
- Write a number from 1-4 in the center of each section of both sheets of paper.
- Cut or tear each sheet along the folded lines and lay the pieces of paper on the floor. You will use one set of numbers, and your little one with use the other.
- Have a fun dance party! Play your favorite music, call out different numbers, and step on or next to each number called. Encourage your little one to do the same.
- Vary the speed in which the numbers are called or call the numbers to the beat of the music.
