In this wordless picture book, each image starts with a single line, whether made by a pencil or the blade of a skate--and the magic flows from there.
Increase pre-literacy skills as you read together:
- Talk with your little one about what is happening in the story. For example, ask them whether they think it is hot or cold or whether characters are happy or sad.
- Pretend to draw together by tracing the lines with your little one.
- Ask your little learner to identify some of the colors the skaters wear.

Materials
- Water-soluble paint
- Paper
- Pencil, crayons, or colored pencils
- Plate
Instructions
- Practice using lines to turn fingerprints into animals!
- Squeeze various paint colors onto a plate.
- Together with your little one, press your fingers into the paint colors of their choice and make fingerprints on the paper.
- Once the paint has dried, turn your fingerprints into different animals by using lines to add wings, legs, spots, stripes, and more.
