Questions to think about while you read:
- What activity did you think was the most interesting? When will you give it a try?
- Share something you learned that you didn't know about before with a friend or family member.
- Describe your ideal kind of adventure—would it be climbing a mountain, exploring in the ocean, searching for an animal, etc.? What would you need to do to make this adventure happen? Start planning!
PLAY: Scavenger Hunt
You can have lots of fun with friends and family on a scavenger hunt! You can play as individuals or in teams. Below are two printable lists: one for an outdoor hunt and, if the weather is bad, one for an indoor hunt. You can also create your own lists of things for players to search for. The first person or team who finishes with all the items on the list wins!

EXPLORE: Make a Campfire
Outdoor adventures almost always feature a campfire! They are good for keeping warm, drying wet clothes, telling stories around, and of course, for making s'mores! You can make a safe, pretend campfire out of simple supplies, and you can use it indoors or outdoors!
Supplies:
- 5-6 toilet paper rolls
- Brown paint
- Paintbrush
- Paper plate
- Yellow, red, and/or orange tissue paper
- Glue
- Optional supplies: gray paint, black permanent marker, small rocks
Instructions:
- Paint the toilet paper rolls brown and allow to dry fully. If you like, once they are dry, use a black permanent marker to make marks to look like tree bark.
- If desired, paint paper plate gray and let dry. Place painted rolls on paper plate in a circular design, stacking them like logs. Once they are arranged the way you like, use the glue to secure them to the paper plate and each other. Allow glue to dry fully.
- Scrunch up a few squares of fire-colored tissue paper to resemble flames; glue them in between the logs.
- If desired, put some small rocks around the bottom of the logs.
- Enjoy your campfire! What kinds of things will you do with it?
