Jeremy Yates

Jeremy Yates Jacksonville Public Library

Jeremy Yates (he/they) is a maker, visual storyteller, D&D player and lifelong Disney fan. He is also the newest addition to the Jacksonville Public Library's Marketing Department. When not at work, he enjoys spending time in a galaxy far, far away through Star Wars audiobooks, movies and TV shows. Or you’ll find him binge-watching other fantasy and sci-fi shows, playing Pokémon Go or just spending quality time with his equally-geeky partner Andrew and their extremely food-motivated Border Collie, Watson.

Bullying Prevention Month

Stop bullying. Speak up. Bullying Prevention Month.

We all know what bullying is and how detrimental it can be. Whether it’s on the school bus, in gym class, on social media, or even at your workplace water cooler – it’s never been more toxic or pervasive. Our online and interconnected world can make it hard for children and teens to find safe havens or the courage to speak up and speak out. Knowing how to start those conversations or where to turn isn’t always easy. That’s why the Library has several resources for children, teens, and parents to help prevent or stop bullying.

LGBTQ+ History Month

LGBTQ+ History Month

October is LGBTQ+ History Month, which celebrates the achievements and contributions of exemplary lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and other queer-identified role models throughout history. Like other celebration months, it is also an opportunity to highlight historic and current issues facing the community, celebrate milestones, and educate or welcome others who would become allies.
