#A Feast for the Eyes
Amid the rush and excitement of a busy holiday season, we are often presented with moments of quiet. Whether you're taking stock at the end of a long year or taking the opportunity to gather around a table with family and friends, December can be a time for reflection.
For some, the question "What's On Your Table?" might mean a simple dinner menu. For you, the answer might include traditional meals, beloved family recipes or the fine china and silver service you only use for special occasions.
When you ask the fine artists from The Art Center Cooperative, Inc. and Jacksonville Artists Guild the same question, what you get is a uniquely personal and stunning new art exhibition in the Gallery at Main Library.
Open Monday, November 28, 2022, through January 5, 2023, "What's On Your Table?" features work from 34 accomplished local artists.
#A Seat at the Table
While you're out and about, taking in the sights and sounds of Downtown at December's Art Walk, don't forget to stop by the Main Library! And if you're looking for a party, join us for a lively Opening Reception with the Artists Wednesday, December 7 from 6-8 p.m. Enjoy a free nibble, a drink and some music while you look at artwork by some of Jacksonville's finest artists.
All the art is for sale, so it's the perfect opportunity to get a gift that's one of a kind. You can also participate in a free raffle to win a framed print!
#The Menu
The show was judged by nationally and internationally acclaimed cartoonist and fine artist Ed Hall. "The work is stimulating and diverse, and I enjoyed reviewing every piece. Jacksonville has a thriving arts community, and the work presented exemplified that."
From inventive multi-media pieces to wonderful oil and acrylic creations to compelling 3D sculptural creations and ceramics, each tablescape is unique. When approaching this theme, some artists considered the hall table or a coffee table, others a nightstand. "All of the work reflected experimentation and a nice mix of traditional and modern approaches," said Hall.
