About the Exhibit

Jacksonville Public Library welcomes local photographer Michael Cenci for a special two-month exhibition of his wildlife and nature photography, on display from March 16 through May 12 at the Main Library, in second and third-floor galleries. The exhibit is presented by The Art Center Cooperative, Inc., a local organization designed to kindle, support, and celebrate the artist, cultural and creative spirit of the Jacksonville community.

About the Artist

Michael was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. He has been photographing Florida wildlife and nature for over 25 years. As an avid outdoorsman, he attempts to capture nature at its most defining moments, from the delicate butterfly perched on a flower, to the prehistoric gator lurking in the swamp, from the tranquility of the marsh at sunrise, to the bald eagle capturing his prey.

Michael hopes that those viewing his photography will see the wonder of nature through his eyes.

Michael’s photographs are on display in many corporate collections and local galleries. They have been published in The Daily Mail, The Daily Telegraph, The Mirror in Great Britain, and other international media. For more about Michael's photography, visit: cenciphotography.com.

Besides being a Wildlife and Nature photographer, Michael has also been a woodworker most of his life.  He uses a combination of local woods, driftwood from the river, sinker cypress, unusual woods he discovers, alligator skin, and sometimes exotic veneers. Each piece he creates dictates what material will be used. Everything is signed and dated and built to last for generations to come. The furniture on display in the Main Library is made from old growth sinker cypress from the St. Johns River, harvested in the late 1800s.
