Writer's Lab: Discover Local Author Resources

Learn how to format, design, and produce professional quality book files with Pressbooks Public. This workshop meets live on Zoom from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 7, so you'll be able to follow along on your computer. You'll also learn how to reach new readers through libraries statewide (and potentially all across the U.S. and Canada) with the Indie Author Project.

About the presenter: Nash Steele is the Senior Operations Coordinator for the Ebooks and Community Engagement division at Lyrasis, where she works to expand e-book access in public libraries. With a strong background in publishing and library partnerships, Nash is passionate about supporting authors and readers alike. Through the Indie Author Project and The Palace Project, she helps connect libraries with a diverse range of independent and digital content.

Looking for a practical, myth-busting guide to screenwriting? Join us from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at University Park Branch. At this hands-on workshop, you'll learn the key differences between novel writing and screenwriting and what makes a story truly adaptable to film or television.

About the presenter: Jaimie Engle is an award-winning screenwriter, novelist, and creative entrepreneur. Her debut film, Just Jake, premiered on UpTV in 2023, and she was contracted by DreamWorks Animation to develop her original story idea into a feature film in 2025. Currently, Jaimie is under contract to write a novel for Fresh Produce Media (2025).

Jaimie is also the founder of Chapter Drops™ helping people with stories write and publish books, and Chapter Frames™ a networking platform connecting authors and producers. She has written and published 25+ books. Learn more about Jaimie on her website.
