Reading Is Magic
Books have the power to spark imagination, just like magic! Join us from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, at the Main Library in Downtown Jacksonville for this year’s Family Reading Day.
This year's enchanting celebration features Oge Mora, an award-winning author whose work illustrates how every word can hold an adventure. Plus, Mother Bruce, Pete the Cat, and Dragon from “Dragons Love Tacos” step off the page and into a book character parade!
Junior Lit Chat
Oge Mora joins us at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, at Main Library for a 30-minute presentation, including time for audience Q&A. After the program, Oge will announce the winners of the Celebrate Reading Week Book Review Writing Contest. A book signing will follow.
A limited number of copies of her book, Saturday, will be given away to registered attendees.
Oge Mora is a collage artist and storyteller. She is also a fan of all things colorful, patterned, or collaged, and enjoys creating warm stories that celebrate people coming together. Her picture book, Thank You, Omu!, was a Caldecott Honor, Coretta Scott King/John Steptoe New Talent Award winner, and Ezra Jack Keats Book Award recipient. Her second book, Saturday won the 2020 Boston Globe—Horn Book Picture Book Award. Her latest book is called More or Less.
