# What Is StoryWalk® & Where to Find It
A StoryWalk® is a series of mounted posts, found on walking trails and in public parks, featuring pages from a children’s picture book. Each post directs you to the next page in the story and includes fun prompts that spur conversation and movement. StoryWalk® is normally less than a mile in distance.
Jacksonville Public Library is proud to support early literacy, physical activity, and family time together in nature by working with neighborhood organizations and the Parks and Recreation Department on StoryWalk® projects in the City of Jacksonville.
# StoryWalk® at A. Philip Randolph Park (Historic Eastside)
Baby Ballena by G. Mister is a fascinating glimpse into a baby whale's first migration from Mexico to Alaska, with text in both English and Spanish. When Juana is born in the warm waters of Mexico, the little gray whale isn't quite what you'd call little--she's already as big as a boat and drinks over fifty gallons of milk a day to keep growing! Soon it's time to make a long journey with her pod to their summer feeding grounds. They swim north day and night, passing many familiar landmarks and carefully avoiding orcas and fishing nets. After spending the summer eating their fill in Alaska, Juana and her pod return to their beautiful Mexican lagoon, where another baby is about to be born, and the cycle begins again.
This StoryWalk® is presented in collaboration with Jax Parks, Historic Eastside Community Development Corporation, Lift Jax and Read Jax and located at located at 1096 A. Philip Randolph Blvd.
# StoryWalk® on the Emerald Trail (LaVilla Link)
Marta! Big & Small by Jen Arena teaches little ones to identify opposites and animals and learn new words. Marta is una niña, an ordinary girl... with some extraordinary animal friends! As Marta explores the jungle, she knows she's bigger than a bug, smaller than an elephant, and faster than a turtle. But then she meets the snake, who thinks Marta is sabrosa-tasty, very tasty! But Marta is ingeniosa, a very clever girl, and she outsmarts the snake with hilarious results.
This StoryWalk® is presented by Baptist Health, in collaboration with the Library Foundation of Jacksonville and Groundwork Jacksonville. Find it along the LaVilla Link of the Emerald Trail (near the Butterfly Garden) on Johnson St., between W. Duval and W. Church Streets.
