# Honoring Those Who Serve and Their Families
National Military Appreciation Month recognizes the incredible service, sacrifices and dedication of all members of the U.S. Armed Forces, both active and retired, as well their families. Jacksonville is home to multiple military facilities such as Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville, Naval Station Mayport, Kings Bay Naval Base, and Camp Blanding Joint Training Center.
The observance runs May 1 to 31 each year and includes Loyalty Day, Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Armed Forces Day, and most notably, Memorial Day. Please note: All Jacksonville Public Library locations will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day. We resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, May 27.
