# Start Your Own Podcast with Help from the Library
Have you considered podcasting as a business or as a way to promote your existing business? According to Merriam-Webster, a podcast is "a program (as of music or talk) made available in digital format for automatic download over the Internet." Is there a niche you could fill in the podcast market?
Last May, in Entrepreneur magazine, business news reporter Sherin Shibu wrote, "Podcasting is a $25 billion industry, and top podcasts have a lot in common — from length to number of episodes to cover art. [A recent] study found that "profit" is the main reason Americans want to start a podcast this year — and it can be a lucrative side hustle."
