#Screening Room: Secrets of the Forest
"Can forests help cool the planet? Follow scientists working in spectacular forest landscapes in Costa Rica, Brazil, Australia, and beyond as they try to untangle complex networks of trees, fungi, and creatures large and small--all in a quest to tackle the twin threats of climate change and species extinction."
Watch the documentary Secrets of the Forest (53 minutes) from 6:15 - 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Willow Branch Library. This program is sponsored by the Friends of Willow Branch Library.
The screening will be followed by a brief presentation and Q&A with Shannon Sharpe. As lead mycologist at Harmony Mushroom Co., she hosts local guided ecotours and educational events on mycology, sharing the wonders of fungi with naturalists from across the country. Shannon collaborates with the UNF on fungal research and travels year-round to mushroom and mycology gatherings—from regional meetups to national conferences—both as a speaker and participant. She finds her greatest pleasure in cataloging fungal diversity and observing forest ecology.
