Halloween Books for Kids

#From Halloween Fears to Halloween Fun!

Halloween is almost here! Before you know it, the ghosts and goblins will be showing up at your doorstep, with trick-or-treat bags in hand! It can be a fun time for horror fans and pranksters alike. And we can't forget about all of the yummy fall treats like pumpkin pie, caramel apples and free, full-sized candy bars from your favorite neighbor down the street!

But with all of the masks and monster makeup, strange noises and zombie movies... It can also be a scary time for kids. While it can definitely be fun to be scared - especially as you get older - sometimes you want a not-so-scary alternative! The Library has both!

Join us at Comic Club on Halloween Night

Join us for a special Halloween edition of Comic Club Graphic Novel Book Club on Tuesday, October 31 at 6 p.m. at the Willow Branch Library. We will be reading and discussing Through the Woods by Emily Carroll. This collection of five spine-tingling short stories include

  • A wealthy young woman weds a man in a lonely old house, and at night she hears a forlorn song of unavenged murder lilting from the walls.
  • A girl spends the summer with her brother and his fiancée, who is not what she seems.
  • Three sisters wait for their father to return, but one by one they disappear with a tall man in a broad-brimmed hat.

Note: Comic Club is open to teens and adults and typically meets on the second Tuesday of each month.
