Brentwood Library Friends to Give Away750 Backpacks

Children Can Pre-Register to Pick Up a Free Back-to-School Backpack and More at Brentwood Library

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., August 2, 2020 – If your kids need school supplies, the Friends of Brentwood Branch Library want to help you out! Parents and caregivers of children from K through 12 can pre-register for one of 550 backpacks at the Brentwood Branch Library until Friday, August 5. Backpacks can be picked up Saturday, August 6 at the branch while supplies last.

In addition to the 550 backpacks for students in K-12, another 200 backpacks filled with books from Read Jax will be given to kindergarten-bound children.

Students who check out books or other library materials at the Brentwood Branch Library will be able to get tickets to play video games on the Dnap Game Party Truck during Saturday's event, and will have a chance to win a $300 shopping certificate for school clothes.

HOW: Pick up backpack Saturday, August 6, 10:30 a.m. while supplies last, enjoy food concessions, DJ, games and more from 10:30 - 3:30 Saturday, August 6 at Brentwood Branch Library.

Contributors to the event include Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation, Read Jax, Full Service Schools of Jacksonville, Friends of Brentwood Branch Library and other community members.

About the Brentwood Branch Library< br/> The Brentwood Branch Library opened in the 9,200-square-foot Brentwood Theatre building in 1961 to replace the 1,200-square-foot Springfield Library. In 2017 the branch was updated with new carpet, furniture, and the addition of six computers. After the renovation, the branch was reorganized to provide youth programs and resources on the first floor, and adult services on the second floor.
