Use your library card or apply for an ecard here to access our digital library!

Simple one-word text and vibrant illustrations featuring an orange cat and a blue dog introduce young children to the concept of opposites.

Increase pre-literacy skills as you read together:

  • Act out the opposites with your little reader. Reach up and down for up high and down low or smile and frown for happy and sad.
  • Read a word then ask your little one to guess its opposite. For example, read "Slow" then ask your little learner what they think the opposite of slow is.
  • Look at the text and illustrations and ask your little learner what is happening on the page. For example, read "Oops!" and "Phew!" then talk with your little one about what the cat and dog are doing.
