Join the fun of finding and counting on a thrilling walk along the seashore during the summertime. Packed with repetition that young children love and that also helps them learn, this is an entertaining introduction to colors, numbers, and the seasons.

Increase pre-literacy skills as you read together:

  • Before reading, talk to your child about past experiences at the beach. For example, ask what they like to do at the beach. Help by providing reminders if needed.
  • This book is a hunting game! See if your little learner can spy the orange seashells, gray dolphin, striped umbrellas and more as you read the story.
  • Help your little one practice counting the objects at the seashore, and encourage them to name the colors of the objects.

#SING: The Inchy Pinchy Crab

(Tune: Itsy Bitsy Spider)

The inchy pinchy crab

Scurries down the beach.

Up comes a big wave

and carries him out to sea.

Swimming and swimming

He gets back to the shore

And the inchy pinchy crab

Goes up the beach once more
