Increase pre-literacy skills as you read together:

Before reading, talk to your child about past experiences at the beach. For example, ask what they like to do at the beach. Help by providing reminders if needed.
This book is a hunting game! See if your little learner can spy the orange seashells, gray dolphin, striped umbrellas and more as you read the story.
Help your little one practice counting the objects at the seashore, and encourage them to name the colors of the objects.

Create this simple "sand" that looks just like the beach with your Little Learner!

Materials:

White or yellow cornmeal
Large container
Optional – bucket, shells, shovel

Instructions:

Ask your little one to help you add cornmeal to a large container or bin.
Optional – Add items like a bucket, shovel, or large shells for your child to play with. Be mindful of potential chocking hazards.
Encourage your child to explore the sand using their hands or added items.
