It's time to bug out! This week we are exploring some creeping, crawling, wiggling creatures!

A creepy crawly interactive guessing game. "What bug has eyes like this?" asks a spread showing a close-up of the body part without revealing the rest of the bug's body. "A grasshopper!" answers the following spread, which features an illustration of the whole bug in its habitat, along with intriguing information about its unique body part and what makes it special.

Increase pre-literacy skills as you read together:

  • This book has true facts in it, but you don't need to read every part of it to your little one. Let them choose one or two of the bugs that they are most interested in and only read the factual information about those ones.
  • Work with your little one to guess what bug might be on the next page before revealing it.
  • When the bug is revealed, ask your little one if they have ever seen a bug like it before. Where? When? What was it like?
  • As you read, define words that your little one might not know, like antennae.
