Increase pre-literacy skills as you read together:
- This book can be enjoyed by all ages. For the littlest learners, use the pictures to learn or practice the names of colors. For little learners who are older, use the illustrations and printed text to learn colors and other names for animals they may already know.
- Pause on various pages and ask your little learner if they can think of other things or animals that are the same color.
- Use both commonly known and proper names like "snake" and "cobra" when talking about various animals.

Materials list
- Plain yogurt
- 3-5 Kool-Aid packets or packets of gelatin in different colors
- 3-5 small containers
- Spoon
- Optional – food coloring
Instructions
- Spoon small amounts of yogurt into each container.
- Encourage your little learner to choose which colors they would like to make.
- Mix a packet of Kool-Aid or a ¼ of each packet of gelatin into each container. For an unscented version, use a drop a food coloring in each container.
- Stir the mixtures thoroughly.
- Have fun mixing and eating your edible colors!
- After playing, discard your edible colors.
