Pretty ladybugs, fluttering butterflies, creepy daddy longlegs, and roly-poly bugs are some of the familiar creatures featured in this whimsically illustrated insect album. 

Increase pre-literacy skills as you read together: 

  • Pause and move like the bugs do.  
  • Talk with your little one about how each bug looks. 
  • While looking at the page that shows the bugs' actual size, ask your little learner to point out big bugs and little bugs.

Materials 

  • 1-2 slices of bread 
  • Toppings such as peanut butter, jelly, or dried fruit  
  • Butter knife or spoon  

Instructions  

  1. Cut the bread in half at a diagonal. 
  2. Place the uncut corners side by side.  
  3. Decorate your butterfly sandwich! Spread peanut butter or jelly on the bread or add toppings like dried or fresh fruit.
  4. Enjoy your delicious snack!
