5-4-3-2-1! Count down to all the fun in this week's books and activities!
#READ: Mouse Count by Ellen Stoll Walsh

Use your library card or apply for an ecard here to access our digital library!
Count along with these adventurous mice as they make their escape from a hungry snake.
Increase pre-literacy skills as you read together:
- Ask your little one what sounds mice and snakes make.
- Keep a mouse count and do a mouse countdown. Count the mice as they are added to the jar then do a countdown using the number of mice in the jar.
- Say repeated phrases such as "fast asleep" together or take turns saying them. For example, read "little, warm, and tasty" then ask your little one to complete the phrase each time by saying "fast asleep."

#EXPLORE: Counting Fun

Materials:
- 5 clear resealable plastic snack bags
- 15 similar items such as your little one's favorite snack
Ways to explore:
- Fill a bag with one item and another with two items. Continue this pattern until you have five items in a bag.
- Lay the bags in order from 1-5 and count the items together. Rearrange the bags in descending order. Do a countdown together.
- For additional fun, use the bags in a scavenger hunt. For example, after placing bags around, ask you little learner to look for a bag with three things in it.
