Junior Scholars: Women of the Computer Age

What if I told you that, not too long ago, women were kept from participating in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics...would you believe it? It's true! It was a long-held belief that women did not have the "smarts" or the "talents" for such subjects! Thankfully, there have been some fearless and very smart women who decided to prove otherwise. For this week of Women's History Month, we celebrate the Women of the Computer Age who showed the world that a woman's place is in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics!

Junior Scholars: Space Pioneers

Junior Scholars

Space captures the interest and imagination of many people. When you look up into the night sky, what do you wonder about? I think about how amazing it is that we have sent men and women into space to explore our Moon and learn more about our Milky Way Galaxy. March is Women's History Month, and this week, we celebrate the many contributions of female scientists, engineers, and astronauts who have taken us to the stars and made space exploration possible. Join us at a program to learn more about these amazing Space Pioneers!

Junior Scholars: Environmental Warriors

Junior Scholars

We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children." -- Native proverb

Caring for our Earth is everyone's job. In today's world, kids are learning what they can do to protect our environment.  March is Women's History Month, and we're exploring women who were scientists, inventors, mathematicians, and artists.  This week, we'll "meet" some amazing women who've gone above and beyond to become Environmental Warriors! Join us, and you'll be inspired to do something to help our environment!

Junior Scholars: Women & Animals

Junior Scholars

March is Women's History Month, and all month we will be learning about women who made contributions to science and the arts. This week, we are learning about women who loved and studied animals; some to learn more about them, and some who were inspired to create art featuring them. We know a lot more about chimpanzees, gorillas, sharks, reptiles, and more because of the curiosity of women scientists. In many cases, they learned and shared things we had never known before about these animals! Women artists created beautiful art pieces to express their respect for and relationships with animals. Attend a program and be inspired to learn more about animals!

Junior Scholars: Bold Women

Junior Scholars

When everyone told them "no" or "you can't," these fearless women persisted. Armed with their knowledge, strength, and willpower, they pushed beyond the barriers. February is African American History Month and this week, we look at bold women, past and present, who saw a challenge and rose above it to create progress for others. Join us for a program and you'll be inspired to overcome what stands in your way!
