Junior Scholars: Creatures of the Deep
We are in week six of Oceans of Possibilities, and by now, I'm sure you are very knowledgeable about tracking your daily reading to earn free books and earning tickets for prizes when you visit the Library. This week, we're taking a closer look at the creatures that call the deepest part of the ocean home, like ghost sharks, vampire squid, and...ZOMBIE WORMS. Don't believe me? Junior Scholars: In Deep Waters
We're going to get in waaaay over our heads with this week's theme...In Deep Waters. In week five of Oceans of Possibilities, we'll learn how scientists are able to learn about and study what goes on in the remotest parts of the ocean, as well as what kind of life forms call it home. Come to some programs this week; anytime you visit a Library you get tickets for prizes, as well as free books for tracking your daily reading!
Junior Scholars: Octopuses
We've made it to the fourth full week of Summer Reading: Oceans of Possibilities! It's the halfway point!! By now, I'm sure you've earned a free book or two and some fun prizes for visiting the Library. Keep up the great work! This week, we are going to learn all about octopuses (and yes, that's a correct plural). Scientists have learned how amazingly intelligent they are—some have escaped from sealed tanks in aquariums and returned to the ocean! Join us this week to satisfy your curiosity about these clever cephalopods.
Junior Scholars: Sharks
It's the third full week of Summer Reading: Oceans of Possibilities, and this week, the featured sea animal is the most feared (and misunderstood) in the ocean: sharks! For centuries, they were needlessly hunted and killed until scientists were able to really study them and gather more information (turns out, they don't want us for lunch!).
