Junior Scholars January 2023: Steam & STEAM

Junior Scholars Library Academy

It’s a new year! Let’s get energetic and talk about things that move us forward, like steam and STEAM! What’s the difference? Steam is hot water vapor that is used to create energy; that’s one way we get the electricity we use daily. STEAM is an educational concept that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. STEAM subjects are key to moving forward in education and knowledge, which is why they are featured in many of our programs. Explore the STEAM-based activities and books below and join us for a program this month, you’re sure to find something that will power your interests!

Junior Scholars December 2022: Winter

Junior Scholars Library Academy

Winter is coming...December 21st marks the winter solstice, also known as the shortest day and longest night of the year. It's the astronomical start of winter, which has to do with the position of the Earth in its annual journey around the sun.  If the winter weather isn't great for outside activities, take the opportunity to chill out and spend time indoors doing what makes you happy.  You can get some ideas from the books and activities below, and you can also join us for a program or two!
