What to Expect at the Young Adult Job Fair
With over a 1,000 eager job seekers coming through the library for the 2016 Young Adult Job Fair, it was a historic event and we can't for this year's Young Adult Job Fair happening this week on Tuesday, June 6th. We know that this Tuesday will only bring even more success, and larger crowds, so we want you to be as prepared as possible. With this year’s Young Adult Job Fair comes a few new features that will ensure everyone gets a chance to visit and speak with the companies they are interested in applying to.
One of the newest additions to this year’s Job Fair is the Early Access Pass. This exclusive pass will allow you to enter the job fair one-hour before it opens to the general public. If you attended one or more job readiness workshops hosted at a library branch then you already have your access pass! If you didn't take advantage of this for 2017, there is always next year!
In addition to the Early Access Pass, we will also manage the flow of people into the fair. This means that no more than 300 young adults will be inside the job fair booth area at one time and will have a one-hour time limit. So if you want to get in to the job fair early, get in line early. Once the Early Access Pass people have their hour block, the order in which the general public is admitted will be on a first come first serve basis. However, once you receive your wristband designating your entry time, you can attend one of our 20 minute workshops happening in the Jax Makerspace while you wait:
11:20 – 11:40 a.m. Brainfuse Demonstration presented by Brainfuse Representative Jack Rothstein
12:00 – 12:20 p.m. The Do’s and Don’ts of the Interviewing Process presented by ERC
12:40 – 1:00 p.m. Branding Yourself presented by Junior Achievement
1:20 – 1:40 p.m. Brainfuse Demonstration presented by Brainfuse Representative Jack Rothstein
Doing your research on a company before you meet with them will help you stand out from the rest. Check out the list of registered companies and plan your hour inside the job fair wisely. Know which companies you want to speak to first and spend some time on their website to familiarize with open positions and what they are looking for in an employee. This will also help you tailor your resume. Be aware that some companies will be conducting on-site interviews. Here are some Interview Tips so you can make sure you are interview ready!
