Jacksonville Public Library cardholders can visit 175 Florida State Parks for free this summer when they check out a Real Florida Reader day pass from any Jacksonville Public Library location.
Thanks to the Florida Department of State's Division of Library Information Sciences, each of Jacksonville Public Library's 21 locations was issued two Real Florida Reader passes for customers to check out with their Library card. Passes can be checked out for seven days and returned to the circulation desk at the Library. Each pass is good for admission to a State Park for one vehicle (up to eight people).
The Real Florida Reader is a statewide collaboration between the Department of Environmental Protection, Florida State Parks and the Florida Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services to encourage visitation to libraries and parks this summer. To celebrate this year’s library Summer Learning theme, “Oceans of Possibilities,” the Division of Library and Information Services and Florida State Parks invite the public to explore Florida’s beautiful state parks.
A map of participating state parks can be found here, along with more details about the program: https://www.floridastateparks.org/RealFloridaReader. Passes are not valid at City of Jacksonville parks or national parks.
