#Making Paper AirplanesMaking Paper Airplanes by David Woodroffe

by David WoodRoffe

Now, any kid can turn a stack of paper into his or her own private air force! Making Paper Airplanes is your complete reference packed with colorful diagrams, graphics, and instructions, featuring ninety-one gravity-defying paper aircraft that really fly.

From origami fighter jets to tin foil helicopters and paper Spitfires, you and your child will learn hundreds of different ways to build successful flying devices from paper. Each model includes customized graphics so your aircraft will look the part as it sails through the air.

All of these fantastic flying machines have been built and tested by the author to ensure that, with little more than a few folds and a couple of snips, your new creation can be airborne. Whether you are spending a summer's day outdoors or a winter's day indoors, Making Paper Airplanes will deliver hours of crafts, flights, and fun.

Check out this book now on Hoopla.

#TALK

Talk about these questions with your kids as you read the book.

  • What do you think is the science behind a paper airplane? How might it compare to a real airplane?
  • How might kids understand real science by making paper airplanes.
  • What paper airplane design from the book would you like to try?

# MAKE

#Your Own Paper Airforce!Storytime DIY: Making Paper Airplanes

Grab a stack of paper and choose any air plane models from the book to try. Fly them around the house or yard.

For an added challenge, add an object (i.e. paperclip, crayon, eraser, etc.) to your plane to see if it still flies the same. Have fun!

#Around the World in 80 Daysaround the world

You just graduated from pilot school and you are the proud owner of your favorite model airplane. To celebrate, you plan to enter a contest called “Around the World in 80 Days”. For this contest, you must fly solo around the world in under 80 days. Write a short story about your fantastic trip around the world.

#PLAY

#Flying Through Hoops!flying through hoops game

To play this game, each kid will need a paper airplane. Hang several different sized hoops or rings (you can use hula hoops or cut large circles out of poster board) from the ceiling, at varying heights. Challenge the kids to throw their planes through the hoops.

You can even add a point value to each hoop and keep score accordingly.
