We’re adding more hours! That’s right, many of our libraries will be open more hours starting March 2, 2019. This incredible update is the result of a staffing increase approved by City Council Sept. 25, 2018. The addition of eight operating hours weekly at nine branches and 12 at each of our four regional locations, represents a 12.6% increase in hours open each week.

Nine branch libraries—Argyle, Beaches, Bill Brinton Murray Hill, Mandarin, Maxville, San Marco, South Mandarin, West and Willowbranch—which previously operated just five days a week will now open six days a week. Hours were also added to the library’s four high-traffic regional libraries, which includes Highlands, Pablo Creek, Southeast and Webb Wesconnett. Main Library hours will remain the same.

Top 3 Reasons to Celebrate Our New Hours:

  1. More days to visit! Who doesn’t want to come to the library more? Nine of our branches are now open an extra day making it even more convenient to check out your favorite books, movies and more.
  2. More convenient times! We did some research and aligned our hours to the times you visit us most. Now multiple branches are open during the times you want to visit the library.
  3. More consistent schedule! We have streamlined our schedule to be more consistent across the board, making it easier to find a branch open near you.

All 16 branch libraries will be open 48 hours per week (six days a week) and adhere to the same schedule:

Monday and Tuesday: 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Wednesday through Saturday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Sunday: CLOSED

The four regional libraries (Highlands, Pablo Creek, Southeast and Charles Webb Wesconnett) will be open 64 hours per week (seven days a week) with consistent hours:

Monday through Thursday: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Sunday: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

We hope you will enjoy these expanded and more consistent hours, and take advantage of the wealth of resources our Jacksonville Public Libraries provide to our community.
