Attention all chocoholics! Today is your day! According to a recent New York Times report, Americans spend about $21 billion on chocolate every year but this year the data suggests that during the pandemic, Americans turned to chocolate in a major way. An article from USA Today states that:

"During the 17-week period that ended on June 27, U.S. consumers spent $3.7 billion on chocolate, up 6.3% from that time period last year, according to Nielsen data. Milk chocolate was the favorite choice, with Americans spending over $2.9 billion on single serve and multi-serve versions of the snack."

Additionally, the information from this survey suggests that the pandemic has also driven Americans into their kitchens, with a 46% spike in baking. To help satisfy your chocolate craving and the new urge to cook from home, we've put together a delicious booklist that contains something for everyone - from fiction to the history of chocolate, and of course some recipes that will make your mouth water.

With Halloween coming up, we know that many families are looking for creative ways to celebrate the holiday and one idea is that perhaps instead of going from house to house to trick-or-treat, you can gather the kids up at the kitchen counter and make your own mouth-watering treats together! Once you are done baking, sit back, enjoy your chocolate and read some chocolate-themed fiction (choco-fic?). Turns out chocolate lovers, it is not just your day today, it's your year!
