National Friends of Libraries Week

October 18-24, 2020 is the 15th annual National Friends of Libraries Week (view the proclamation here). Friends of Libraries are appreciated all year long but it’s important to shine a light on them each October to make their hard work more visible and our appreciation collectively shared!

Established in 1956, the Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library was created to encourage the support of libraries, increase awareness of public libraries in the community, and raise funds to enhance library services for the good of the public library system and the community. Through fundraising and awareness campaigns, they strive to make the Jacksonville Public Library the best it can be for our community. To see a full breakdown of what the Friends do for JPL, click here(link is external).

You love the Library's programs (especially the Summer Learning program!) and so many other things that make good programs and services GREAT, right? You can thank the 10 Friends of the Library groups for all of their support this week, during National Friends of the Library Week. Watch the video below and be sure to share the love!

The Friends are always looking for new members and volunteers. It’s easy to join, just email FJPLPresident@gmail.com, call (904) 255-6002, or visit www.fjpl.org. Joining the Friends of the Library is a terrific way to make new friends of your own, and give back to our community and make its library even better.
