JANUARY 27 - OLD YELLER (1957)

Disney classic set in Texas, circa 1869. A stray dog, Old Yeller is brought home by one of the younger members of a backwoods family. The valiant canine later rescues his savior's brother from danger, but the dog becomes rabid in the process. The unhappy family does not wish to keep a rabid dog, and they soon realize that there is only one way to deal with the situation...

FEBRUARY 24 - PIPPI LONGSTOCKING (1988)

After her father's ship is carried off by a sudden storm, the spunky Pippi Longstocking is stranded with her horse, Alfonso and her pet monkey, Mr. Neilson, and takes up residence in the old family home, which is thought by neighborhood children to be haunted. Soon, two children, Tommy and his sister Anika, venture into the house only to meet up with Pippi. The three soon become friends and get into various adventures together.

MARCH 30 - THE SECRET GARDEN (1993)

A young British girl born and reared in India loses her neglectful parents in an earthquake. She is returned to England to live at her uncle's castle. She begins exploring the estate and discovers a garden that has been locked and neglected. Aided by one of the servants' boys, she begins restoring the garden, and eventually discovers some other secrets of the manor.

APRIL 27 - MARY POPPINS (1964)

The movie combines a diverting story, songs, color and sequences of live action blended with the movements of animated figures. Mary Poppins is a kind of Super-nanny who flies in with her umbrella in response to the request of the Banks children and proceeds to put things right with the aid of her rather extraordinary magical powers before flying off again.

JUNE 29 - PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH (1965)

Looney Tunes director Chuck Jones lets his imagination fly with this mixture of live action & animation based on the classic story by Norton Juster. Milo, a bored child takes a mysterious journey through a phone booth and arrives in an animated fantasy land run by feuding numbers and letters. He meets all sorts of peculiar characters and joins forces with a "watch" dog named Tock and a lovable old coot called Humbug.

JULY 27 - DANNY, CHAMPION OF THE WORLD (1989)

In a small English town, a widowed father and his son own and operate a gas station that rests on land coveted by a local developer. They must fight to keep their land and retain the traditional values they have come to live by against harsh government inspectors who are privately in league with the developer.

AUGUST 31 - HARRIET THE SPY (1996)

The film adaptation of Louise Fitzhugh's bestselling children's novel, about Harriet, an independent, intelligent girl whose aspiration to become a writer ultimately lands her in some very hot water...Encouraged by her sharp nanny, Harriet secretly begins writing about her observations of the world around her.

SEPTEMBER 28 - THE NEVERENDING STORY (1984)

In this charming fantasy, Bastian, a lonely schoolboy alienated from his father and bullied by his classmates, retreats to an attic where he becomes engrossed in a book entitled THE NEVERENDING STORY. It is the tale of a magical kingdom appropriately named Fantasia, since it is a world born of human fantasies. Bastian is drawn, literally, into the pages of the story.

SEPTEMBER 30 - RETURN TO OZ (1985)

Dorothy Gale has recently come back to Kansas from the land of Oz is now almost back to perfect health since the incident of the tornado, only she cannot get that wonderful place out of her head. She talks frequently about it and cannot get any sleep at night. Dorothy is rescued by a mysterious girl who leads her back to the Land of Oz for a new adventure...

OCTOBER 28 - RIKKI-TIKKI-TAVI (1975)

Orson Welles narrates this fine animated feature based on Rudyard Kipling's story about a brave mongoose who saves his English family from two deadly cobra snakes.

NOVEMBER 25 - ANNE OF GREEN GABLES (1934)

Based on Lucy Maud Montgomery's novel about a young orphan girl who steals the hearts of a lonely Canadian couple with her spirit and lively imagination. Max Steiner provides the warm musical score. Shirley assumed her character's name for her professional identity.

DECEMBER 30 - EMMET OTTER'S JUG-BAND CHRISTMAS (1977)

Christmas is approaching in Frogtown Hollow, and Emmet Otter and his Ma hope to buy gifts for each other. They decide to compete in the Frog Town Hollow Talent Contest in order to win money. Kermit the Frog hosts this classic Muppet musical Christmas tale, based on the book by Russell & Lillian Hoban, with original songs from master tunesmith Paul Williams.
