Stern History Opened November 12, 2005 as the final library project in the Better Jacksonville Plan. The Main Library is over 300,000 sq. ft in size and is the largest public library in the state. It replaces the old Haydon Burns Main Library (November 1965 - September 2005) and the Jacksonville Free Public Library (June 1901 - November 1965).
