ASPIRE is an after-school program and learning area dedicated to the improvement in learning for Jacksonville youths. The goal of ASPIRE is for Children ages 6 - 12 to become better and more enthusiastic readers, develop strong basic skills, and become competent and confident creators and users of information.

What ASPIRE stands for:

ASPIRE Centers are at the following branches: Brentwood, Graham, Eastside, and Westbrook. Hours of operation depend upon the branch, so please contact them for more information.

Activities include:

  • Computer access for homework assignments and educational games.
  • Guest speakers will be invited to talk about careers, personal safety, and other community services.
  • Homework assistance.
  • Playing board games to improve cooperation, team building and critical thinking skills.
  • Simple craft projects to introduce the arts, and increase tactile skills and creative thinking skills.
  • The award-winning ZooTREK (Teaching, Reading and Exploring with Kids) program.

ZooTREK (Teaching, Reading and Exploring with Kids) is an after school program which provides enrichment activities about the natural habitat of our urban communities presented by the Jacksonville Zoo.
