Stereographs, also known as the stereogram and commonly as a stereo view, is composed of two photographs made by a camera with two lenses 2 1/2 " apart mounted on a single card. These cards have the appearance of a single three-dimensional image when viewed through a stereoscope. Stereographs were popular as a source of photographs from around the world; they were mass-produced and distributed. It was conceived in the infant years of photography and perfected between 1850 and 1854.
