How Do I...?

General Library Info

General Materials

This page is the gateway to items in the Florida Collection that do not fit neatly into our other categories. Over time, a historical material collection acquires objects that would not normally be part of a library's general collection. This typically includes sculpture, artwork, building materials, and other such things that have some historical significance.

Material that falls into this area in Jacksonville includes:

Bricks from the demolished 1903 City Hall building.

Artwork and Prints including original newspaper editorial cartoon art and 19th Century prints.

Hotel Registers from local establishments.

Scrapbooks from ordinary everyday people of the area and JPL itself.

Bookplates from the late 19th and early 20th Century, some signed by the bookplate artist.

City, County, and State Records dating back to the early days of Jacksonville.
